Work we usually map in it
- Set up accounts and devices for new people
- Grant and remove access
- Answer support tickets
- Manage software licences and vendors
- Patch and update systems
- Review who has access to what
Where work usually waits
- Access requests wait for an approval that nobody tracks.
- Leavers keep access because HR and IT use different lists.
- One admin is the only person who knows a key system.
Tasks AI can help with
- Sort and route support tickets
- Draft access-review lists for owners to confirm
- Prepare new-hire setup checklists
- Draft answers to common how-to questions
These are examples. Your own list comes from your team's answers. A person stays in charge of each task and makes the judgment calls.
Questions we ask your team
- Which requests come in most, and how?
- Who approves access, and how do you record it?
- Which systems only one person can manage?
- Which AI tools or agents already run in the company, and who owns them?
How the one-week map works
- Days 1 to 3: your team talks. Each person answers a few questions about their own work, on their phone or by typing. It takes about 20 minutes.
- Days 4 to 5: we map the work. Every task, who does it, how many hours it takes and where work waits. The people who do the work check it.
- Days 6 to 7: you pick what AI does. A ranked list of tasks AI can help with and the hours each one takes today. You choose. A person stays in charge of each one.
What you get on day 7
- One map of who does what in the department.
- A written card for each task: what starts it, the steps, who gets the result, how often it happens and how long it takes.
- The hand-offs where work waits.
- The tasks only one person knows.
- A ranked list of tasks AI can help with, each with a named owner.
Every number comes from your team's own answers. You keep the readout and the files.
Questions and answers
What is IT process mapping?
It is a map of the IT team's recurring work, such as requests, access, devices, support and vendors, with owners, approvals, steps and time.
Does this help with AI agent ownership?
Yes. Each agent is tied to one named person and the tasks it does. Agents with no owner are flagged.
Which IT tasks can AI help with?
Ticket routing, access-review prep, setup checklists and draft how-to answers. A person approves access changes.
